Coaxial connectors 1.6/5.6,5/8 and 7/16

Date: 22 December 2017 | Coaxial connectors

Within the range of coaxial connectors, we have different series used for a predetermined type of connection; depending on this one you will have to use one model or another.

As we move forward with this post we will get to know different models of 1.6/5.6,5/8 and 7/16 coaxial connectors. Read on to find out about each of them separately.

Industrial connector series 1.6/5.6, 5/8 and 7/16

Coaxial Connector Series 1.6/5.6

This series of 1.6/5.6 coaxial connectors consists of connectors with high mechanical strength, very high reliability and electrical stability. This is why they are said to be precision coaxial connectors. In addition, their size is very small and does not require much space to use them.

The most commercialized version is the threaded version and, as far as cable assembly is concerned, there are tow and crimp versions. They are designed for communications in the field of engineering and to help transmit at high speeds. The characteristic frequency is close to 8 Ghz.

We can find it angled or straight. Its use requires the use of flexible cables, with a diameter ranging from 2.5 to 7.4 mm.

5/8″ Coaxial Connector Series

These are connectors designed to be installed in distribution network boxes. They are also called 5/8″ UNEF threaded connectors. The male connector with threaded coupling is defined. After categorizing them as widely used in the market, the connectors were designed for the cables used in CATV.

They are mainly used for cable TV networks and their impedance is 75 ohms, with frequencies ranging from 0 to 2 GHz. At the time when they were designed to come to light on the market, it was taken into account that the main need is that the assembly is simple, reliable, fast and with very repetitive steps. Thus, even if the assembly on the ground may seem more difficult, it will be done in such a way that the user becomes an expert at repeating it from time to time.

We can find them in tow and crimp versions.

RF 7/16 Coaxial Connector Series

The name of this series of 7/16 RF connectors indicates that the inside contact is 7 mm and the outside contact is 16 mm. These are very sturdy connectors with typical threaded coupling. They have an impedance of 50 ohms with effective frequencies up to 8 Ghz.

These connectors provide very low VSWR attenuation compared to very high power. As an example of this we have: from 5 KW to 100 Mhz, from 1.8 KW to 1 GHz or from 900 W to 4 Ghz.

They are mainly used for mobile telephony stations and the creation of radio links. Speaking about the products that work with intermodulation, PIM’s superior to 155 are obtained for any of the existing models in the market. All this is marked by the PIM’s of low level.

In Alfa’r S. L. have several types for both standard and special cables, different shapes (straight, watertight), and different presentation versions (press tow, crimp, clamp…).
